The nearest village is Maza where you can see the brigde 'Elliniki Kamara' dated back to the Greek-Roman years and the byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos with its murals. The village of Vryses 2 km away is full of vegetation and well-known for its delicious yoghurt and honey. You can also see the river of Vrysanos. Georgioupolis 5 km away has one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete.You will find many cafe-bars, ouzeries, restaurants and tavernas.
