Villa Norman 2 is located in the historic village of Vrisses. It was built in a traditionally Cretan style and materials such as local stone and cypress wood from Chania were used. The furniture in the villa was handmade at the workshop of a craftsman in the nearby village of Pemonia. Villa Norman was completed in 2008 but 2009 is the first summer that it is open to guests.
The villa consists of two floors and lies inside the village with a fantastic view to the majestic White Mountains. There is a fully equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace, 2 double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom, 2 fully equipped bathrooms with one jetted tub and a spacious veranda. It also has a balcony, a terrace with a pool and gardens shared with the adjacent sister villa.
Unlike most of the villages on Crete, Vrisses is a very new village. The village is in existence since 1925 and was built around the river ''Vrissano''. It was originally developed on the site of 2 inns which were there to accommodate the merchants and travellers travelling to and from Sfakia on the south coast. Life in Vrisses has always been leisurely with many of the locals sitting out the long hot summer days under the large shady plane trees on the banks of the river. Vrisses has always been known for its many agricultural products and is particularly famous for its delicious yoghurt, honey and cheeses. There are many olive and orange groves nearby and the cheese factories are worth a visit.
